Blogs worth reading

I'm pretty good at the internet.  I consider myself a semi-professional gmailer and I'm getting up there in the ranks of amateur blog reader.  So far I've been awarded no points or job offers based on these skills (maybe one day there will be jobs with these qualifications - fingers crossed).  In the mean time, I've used my skills to find some pretty cool blogs about home improvement, design and DIY inspiration

These blogs have been really great for giving us ideas and motivation to keep improving the house.  We thought it would be nice to take a minute to thank them for the inspiration.  If any of these blogs are new to you, check them out!

Young House Love

Post to check out: Mood Boards (Great for getting inspiration for new rooms!)
What we like about YHL:  We've been reading this blog for quite a while.  It's been so fun to see how they took a new (to them) house and room by room updated it to be a great space!  We steal their ideas all the time and they've given us permission to not just live in a house as-is but feel free to change it however we please.  Check out their projects page if you want to get lost for hours and come away with a list of 100 ideas for your house.

Centsational Girl

Post to check out: Color Splash: Painted Cabinet
What we like about Centsational Girl: She does an amazing job of transforming ordinary objects into fabulous pieces.  I've learned a ton about how to prime and paint over almost any finish of wood.  It's inspiring to see how she reuses regular furniture to make something great!  She makes me want to go to a garage sale and try it for myself.

Bower Power

The goods: About | house tour | projects
Post to check out: The recent Nursery Reveal
What we like about Bower Power:  They seem like such a down to earth couple!  We like their conversational style writing and amazing photography skills - seriously you could just look at the pictures and love this blog!  On top of that, they're good at decorating and renovations.

Bungalow23

The goods: About | Photos

Post to check out: Antique Buffet at last
What we like about Bungalow23:  Out of all the house blogs on the internet, this one is closest to home, literally.  His house is in the same city (probably less than 5 miles from us) and was built in roughly the same era.  He does a great job of restoring his house to it's original charm.  We're always trying to balance wanting to make our house feel original but also new and updated, Bungalow23 helps remind us how great the original pieces are.
